He was killed Oct 19,1864 at Cedar Creek, Virginia. He was the son of Champlin and Eunice Gardner. On the back of the CDVs is written, "Jasper Gardner, son of Champlin" and "Wife of Jasper Gardner, Mary". It's probable that Mary was dressed in mourning for
