The veneer is usually sliced and available in quarter cut which enhances the grains lines. The veneer has a nice shine even before any finish is applied. Ovangkol is a good contrasting veneer and it regularly used as a substitute for Walnut. Please be aware that width measurements are taken from the middle part of the sheet.
