An English, fossilised geological ornamental fossil, dating to the Edwardian period and much, much earlier. Ammonites evolved in the ocean between 240,000,000 65,000,000 years ago and faced extinction alongside the dinosaurs. Ammonite comes from the Greek god Ammon, and was an ancient relative of modern cephalopods such as squid, nautilus and cuttlefish. Fascinatingly large
